Cast: Eileen Daly, Silke Freitag and Sascha Hartmann
Writers: Timo Rose, Andreas Schnaas
Directors: Timo Rose, Andreas Schnaas
I'm a fan of many things German. Beer, Woman, Music and Film. Some of my favorite filmmakers include Andreas Schnass, Timo Rose, Olaf Ittenbach, Jorg Buttgereit, Ulli Lomell and Uwe Boll (except the video game films). Whether the films the films follow a serious tone, or are just down right wacky, most capitalize on surrealistic violence and help to keep splatter cinema alive and well and most of all keep them FUN.If you're unfamiliar with any of the directors You should check them out and for those that have heard of Boll trust me, before I saw any of his original films I was stuck on the idea of the terrible video game films he made, but his original films are much better.
What Happens when you Take Andreas Schnass and Timo Rose and tell them to make a movie? You get a funny, gory all around funtastic film name Unrated: The Movie. Now, for all my friends out there that I have educated over the years, Unrated the movie marks the return of Karl The Butcher A.K.A. Der Meister! Oh come on you know, The Violent Shit Trilogy or as many know the 3rd as Zombie Doom? Yes HE'S BACK! And we will see him again after this in Karl The Butcher Vs Axe.
The film is set in a wilder cabin a la Homage to "Evil Dead' where film Director Frank (Timo Rose) is set to make a film with four lovely ladies, but don't quite seem to know what they're filming. A late night storm kicks in and a book of evil is discovered which unlocks hell upon them all. Of course in the film you get your share of boobs, funny insults, a rather humorous masturbation sequence and lots of blood. The film also has a kick ass soundtrack By Marc Trinkhaus and it features awesome songs with vocals by both Directors.
The characters seemed lost cause they don't know what the hell frank has in store for them and quite frankly neither does he. So they're all pretty aggravated and miserable, trying to hang in there and are even more especially with the ego of a horny diva who hates them one minute and tries to fuck them the next. The acting is definitely in the vein of classic B films of yesteryear and for me Schnass and Rose have definitely brought back a feeling in me I haven't felt since the first time I've seen one of their films, and I mean that in a GAY way... No I kid.
The gore as usual in a Schnass or Rose film, Is bloody goodness. I wish there would've been more of a body count but at least you get a nice soak of blood drenched death such as Head explosions, face melting, arm tearing and so on. All the good things a growing gore hound need, in increments yes, but it's still a fun and wacky ride nonetheless.
Overall, I really enjoyed this film, I never really lose faith in either Schnass or rose cause their films are what inspire my imagination like many of my other fave directors and having a fun splatter fun is always a plus. The film could've had a huger body count or probably been gorier, But it was still fun to me either way and being a fan it was cool to get a bit of the slapstick oddball comedy side and then follow through with th gore later on in the film. It set a good balance and i think both together (Schnass and Rose) set a good balance. This is definitely a film for the B audience and Fans of both directors and being a fan of B films and being quite cynical as to how i like by films, I am rather satisfied.
